Surreal in Oslo
4:08 AM It feels far too overdue for me to say this now, but at this very moment, I'm feeling awfully surreal. Outside my window, it isn't the familiar scene of the opposite blocks in hall, but trees bare of their leaves and a carpark that has been coloured a shade of yellow. I can't help noticing how bright the moon is tonight. And chatting with dear old friends back home while staring out at all this accentuates the fact that I am miles away from home. The sound of silence in the night I am accustomed to isn't there anymore. In place there is the sound of the trains going past every 10 minutes or so. I must say I really miss home, more precisely, I miss the familiarity. Enough about the missing. I think I've done enough of that for a day. I'll probably be missing Norway when I have to go home. It is a whole world apart from Singapore, and it is undeniably beautiful. I'm learning to appreciate the smell of autumn, its cold and the bald trees (I actually really like the bald trees.) I know I will miss these things when I go home. I haven't really posted photos about Oslo yet so here are some..  Took this while walking home from school Its only about 3pm but the sun is already beginning its descent. By 5 it has set these days. Kids here begin going to nursery from age 1-2 onwards. I think these ones are about that age. And going out of the classroom is so commonplace over here. They get brought outside in groups like these all the time and I find this really really adorable.  this group of kids are slightly older, and they are always wearing their reflective bibs so its really easy to identify them. And they usually have a 'nanny' to 4 or 5 of them its so cute. I think this group is going to the lake near my student dorm.Last but not least... we have Vinny's Kebab! for the potato head.  signing off from Oslo... 0 comments |
