my idea of australia...
12:11 PM I'd learnt back in Norway, in my marketing comms module that there are 2 components to brand awareness - - brand recognition - i.e. looking at a product in the store and recognizing the brand, possibly associating it with a certain advert or characteristic. E.g. Recognizing the Coca-cola brand and associating it with coolness; and - brand recall - the unconscious ability to recall a specific brand name when you are exposed to certain marketing communication. Recall brand awareness tends to be the more difficult of the two to achieve, and so in this respect, I'd say the Australian tourism board has done a great job with their markeing comm, cause when I heard these 2 songs, I very naturally thought about Australia. There's just something about these songs which sound very down under, very laid back, like all you should be doing in life is lying in the sun, enjoying the sea, its awesome seafood, good wines, and just living it up. (I just did a background check of the 2 artistes, and discovered one of them, Rob Dougan is from Australia. So I guess that must be why. haha) If you haven't seen it yet, this is the latest Visit Australia ad. Makes me kinda wish I was going to Australia instead of Taiwan and HongKong for the grad trip... :P They say "music expresses what language cannot" - Elayne Chia, 2008.
