a fellow fan of How I Met Your Mother just asked me on msn if I'd gotten the first new episode of HIMYM in a long time, after the stupid writers' strike in Hollywood had deprived me of my barney stintson and ted mosby, (sex)architect. I haven't had time to keep up with the progress of the writers' strike so I didn't know it had ended in mid February. But now that its almost coming to the end of the march, seems like they've managed to finish filming the first new episode! hurrraayyy! Unfortunately though, I can't seem to find the torrent for the new episode!! (Lionel, helpppp!)

And so, as I'm sleepy and bored with work right now, I ended up goggling the LEGENDARY, suited-up, pain-in-the-ass barney stintson.

His real name is Neil Patrick Harris, and you might have seen him in the movie Harold and Kumar (he's in the upcoming Harold and Kumar sequel too) where he stars as himself. I was wondering why, but it seems he's been a tv staple in the US, since he begun acting as a child, and was most widely known in his role as a teenage genius doctor called Doogie Howser. He really doesn't look much different from now, apart from the Paul McCartney hairdo. (see pictures below) Oh and he recently disclosed that he was gay, which isn't difficult to believe. It explains his on-screen name, and his a gay half-brother in the show at least.

Barney is Ted's* materialistic, womanizing friend. He was once a sensitive hippie on course to join the Peace Corps with his true love. After his heart was broken, he turned it around. He is rarely seen without his suit.
