desk-chained
9:52 PM I'm really running out of energy for today dealing with the fever but I just had to rant before going to bed. WORK SUCKSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! IT SUCKS A MILLION TIMES OVER! I've never felt more imprisoned, as if I was chained to that chair and that desk in that tiny interview room (which is now my shared 'office' and which they also evidently use as a storeroom for extra publicity materials and unused computer monitors). I'm not going to complain about having to go down to City Hall just to fill in a few papers (which took all of 15 mins) and then have to troop back to Novena for proper work. I'm also not going to talk about my allowance of $600 a month, because that's pretty much the average even across universities. But I am going to complain about the unbearable lack of things to do, being brain-numblingly stuck to the table with stacks of documents I don't even know what are about (which I was not clearly told, but left only with the knowledge that they are for reference), no proper formal training (which I was so expecting after the glowing internship description and interview), no computer access (as yet. so i guess this must be why I was so bored out of my wits), rules not to eat at your desk or bring sweet drinks (read: no drinks other than WATER), having to sit through a brainless & soporific briefing about the mundane administrative rules in the office (e.g. please put the photostating machine cover down after use) and last but not the least, being frozen into a human popsicle in my chair. I have declared more than once within today that I am never going to get through these 10 weeks of internship. That I'd rather go mad than have to go through this! I have also heard stories about all the past interns, about how not a single one has enjoyed their experience there, and how people quit at the first opportunity. I wish I had the freedom to do so tooo! My only consolation must be the SMU intern who was here 4 weeks before me, and who tells me how to pass my time in more interesting ways (like listening to your music discreetly, and disregarding their rules not to use your personal email during work hours etc) and that she has to spend 5 more torturous weeks than me there instead. She was even more cheated than I was, since she isn't even an accountancy student, and she only found out at her interview that the internship was going to be in the internal audit department, not in finance as was relevant to her course. See, ALL of us feel cheated inside-out! This is so misfortune disguised in sheep's skin. And Amin should be glad he didn't get this position man (not to mention he got PMO). And all the other people who put it as one of their Phase 1 choices but did not get shortlisted. I envy everyone of them now. acksss I'm going to bed for now. I need to be well tmr to tahan sitting in my chair for 8.5 hrs. rawrrr 0 comments |
